Library services

  • Building: The library building is closed until further notice.
  • Book drops: Exterior book drops are now open. A book drop slot can be found on the wall outside each entrance to the library; please observe social distancing protocols when using book drops.
    • Charged items: We've contacted all patrons with items originally due in the spring: students and employees, at your AACC email, community members and other non-AACC borrowers by mail. If you have not yet returned your materials, please do so as soon as possible to avoid overdue fines. If you would like to keep items longer, see instructions for requesting a renewal (opens a new window).
    • Please do not return any fragile items (laptops, hard drives, etc.) to a book drop. If you need to return or renew such items, please check your student email for instructions or contact circdesk@aacc.edu for assistance.
  • Online services: Library staff are currently offering remote library services to all patrons. These include reference, instruction, and interlibrary loan of digital materials, among others.
    • "Remote" means that library staff are available by chat, email, text, and other methods that don't involve face-to-face communication. If you prefer to call the library, please leave a voicemail and someone will call you back.
  • Databases: Access to the library's databases is available with a library card number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Borrowing materials: Student, staff, and faculty patrons may now request circulating materials to be picked up by appointment at the library entrance. Please see our sidewalk pickup FAQ for more information.
    • This service is brand-new and there may still be some kinks to work out. Thank you for your patience!
  • The library facility will reopen to patrons on April 2. Hours have yet to be determined, but will be updated wherever the library schedule is posted, including the calendar on this page. When visiting the library, please follow social distancing guidelines recommended by the college and public health authorities.
  • Borrowed items: Patrons with books and other materials borrowed from the library should keep them for the time being; please do not attempt to come to campus or return them by mail as all library staff are working from home. All* loans will be extended – when conditions allow the return of materials, we'll announce a new due date at least two weeks in advance. No overdue fines will be charged on days that the library is closed, and you do not need to renew any materials at this time.
    • * Exception: If you borrowed a textbook, laptop, or other item for the full semester, please check your MyAACC email for instructions to return or renew.
  • If you have any questions, please contact us using any of the methods listed below, or chat with us live during business hours.

As this situation is evolving daily, all information is subject to change without notice. We will update this page in as timely a manner as possible. Last reviewed: 09/24/2020.
