Truxal Library Special Topic Guide: Esperanza, A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope. Fall 2021

Hispanic Heritage Month 2021: how great our tomorrow can be if we hold onto our resilience and hope.

Welcome to this year's library exhibit in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. This year's exhibit features library materials about resiliency and hope in support AACC's theme for this year: "Esperanza, a Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope." In addition to this virtual guide highlighting electronic resources, there is also an exhibit case located on the second floor of Truxal Library. The exhibit case features poetry books and objects. 

Anne Arundel Community College Activities for Hispanic Heritage Month 2021

Among the activities to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Anne Arundel Community College is the recital by United States Poet Laurate Juan Felipe Herrera on October 5th 2021 via Zoom.

Juan Felipe Herrera (born December 27, 1948) is a poet, performer, writer, cartoonist, teacher, and activist. Herrera was the 21st United States Poet Laureate from 2015 to 2017. The recital reception with Juan Felipe Herrera will take place on October 5th, 2021 via Zoom.

Other activities for Hispanic Heritage Month include a Musical Concert with Mandolin and Virtual Art Exhibition from painters and sculptors from "Perspectivas Latinas". For activities for "Perspectivas Latinas", art exhibit, follow us at aacc latinx on Instagram

The Hotel Culinary, Arts and Tourism Institute HCAT and the office Student Engagement. will have a kit and a demonstration via Zoom on the preparation of  "Tres Leches." Tres leches is a  very popular Latin American sponge cake soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. The office of Student Engagement will have available kits for those interested in obtaining them to practice the recipe with our chef Sandra from HCAT.

Library of Congress Activities for Hispanic Heritage Month

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs between September 15 and October 15, various divisions throughout the Library of Congress will host the display of a collection, a series of lectures, concerts, book talks, and other programs and initiatives.

The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.
